A third-generation native Houstonian and a University of Texas graduate, Lindsay earned a Bachelor of Journalism in 2000, from UT’s Moody College of Communications in Austin, TX. In 2001, Lindsay moved to New York City, where she worked as a copywriter for Rolling Stone magazine, followed by a stint as a grant-writer, event planner, and fundraiser for Columbia University. It was at Columbia Lindsay discovered her passion and talent for educating others.

Recruited by Teach For America (TFA) in 2003, Lindsay began her formal teaching career as a TFA corps member. She taught fourth grade in an inner-city public school for HISD, while simultaneously working on her Masters of Education at The University of St. Thomas. Upon completion of the TFA program, Lindsay joined the St. Francis Episcopal Day School faculty, where she founded and led the journalism and media programs.

Lindsay’s personal life led to a relocation to Rochester, New York; it was there she identified a great need for private tutoring services in the area. She implemented an after-school tutoring program at several private schools in the Rochester area under the name Longhorn Tutoring.

I take initiative in demanding environments, have a commitment to excellence in all that I do, and pride myself on my ability to cultivate positive relationships with children and adults from diverse backgrounds.

Back in Houston since 2009, Lindsay collaborated with The Kinkaid School as an academic coach and tutor for seven years. Her daily on-campus partnership with Kinkaid deans, faculty, students, and parents ensured appropriate and open communication regarding students’ needs, challenges, academic assignments, and expectations. She has helped hundreds of students grow academically and personally through writing and study skills, stress management, and lessons in self-advocacy.

As both a public- and private-school classroom teacher, academic coach, and tutor, Lindsay has a unique perspective regarding today’s rigorous and fast-paced academic environments. She custom-tailors her instruction and approach to meet the needs of individual students, while creating a supportive and encouraging learning climate. Her primary goal is to provide students with a positive, inclusive learning environment in which they achieve their full potentials.

Lindsay received her certification as an Adolescent Life Coach in 2018 from Coach Training EDU, where she underwent a rigorous process of training and selection process, allowing her to meet the growing needs and challenges adolescents and their families face in today’s fast-paced, competitive climate.
